The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned a recent rocket attack in Majdal Shams, a Druze community in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The attack resulted in the tragic death of 12 civilians, including children, and left many injured. The ministry expressed condolences to the victims' families and called for all parties involved to exercise restraint and adhere to international humanitarian law to protect civilians.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation against the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, blaming them for the attack, although Hezbollah denied responsibility. The White House reiterated its support for Israel and called for an end to the violence.

The attack on Majdal Shams followed the deaths of four Hezbollah fighters in an Israeli bombing in southern Lebanon.

This escalation further intensifies the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has entered its 296th day.

The main opposition Syriza party also condemned the attack, highlighting the urgent need for international intervention to de-escalate the situation and protect civilians.

Syriza called for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a renewed effort to find a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue through negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.

Both the Greek government and SYRIZA emphasized the importance of international cooperation and dialogue to prevent further violence and work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Middle East.

The escalating violence underscores the urgent need for a political solution that addresses the root causes of the conflict and ensures the safety and well-being of all civilians in the region.
