The Greek government has announced a significant primary budget surplus of €12.011 billion for the first eleven months of 2024, exceeding its target of €9.912 billion and marking a substantial increase compared to the same period in 2023.
This strong performance is attributed to higher-than-expected state budget revenues, which reached €66.721 billion, surpassing the target by €303 million.
Total state budget revenues also exceeded projections, reaching €73.297 billion.
Several factors contributed to the surplus, including a windfall tax on power producers imposed in October, which generated €206 million.
Additionally, a deferral of defense contract payments also played a role.
This positive fiscal news reflects Greece's continued economic recovery and its commitment to responsible fiscal management.
The strong budget performance provides a solid foundation for future growth and strengthens the country's financial stability.
