After a successful debut last year, "grape," the Athens Epidaurus Festival's international platform for Greek performing arts, returns with eight new theatre and dance productions.
These will be showcased to over 50 representatives from cultural organisations and journalists from 25 countries in a dynamic five-day event.
Now in its second year, grape has established itself as a key platform for promoting Greek theatre and dance on the global stage, receiving acclaim from both Greek and international media.
The selected productions delve into pressing contemporary issues such as identity, justice, equality, motherhood, immigration, and the impact of technology on human relationships.
Running from July 21st to 25th, grape 2024 includes performances such as "Etymologies," "The Dogs," "Point of Refreshment," "Connection Error," "Amalia melancholia, Queen of the Palm Trees," "Taverna Miresia," "Bless This Mess," and "Borborygmi."
An open discussion on the current state and future of Greek theatre and dance will also be held on July 22nd at the Goethe-Institut.
Last year's grape program successfully introduced 14 Greek productions to international audiences, with several now being performed at festivals and theatres across Europe.
