Government Spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, in an interview with SKAI TV on Monday night, addressed the housing crisis and the Prime Minister’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) aimed at tackling it.
Marinakis emphasized that the government is providing incentives to open vacant homes, a policy he described as markedly different from simply offering benefits.
“While a benefits policy is also necessary, it must be targeted,” he noted, adding that there will be “zero tax for three years for those who renovate a vacant home.”
Marinakis also discussed the “My Home 2” program, highlighting that “My Home 1” helped 10,000 young people find housing, and it is estimated that “My Home 2” will assist 15,000 individuals. He also mentioned a 400 million euros program for the energy upgrade of vacant homes.
Regarding employment policy, Marinakis pointed out that Greece, once considered “bankrupt,” now has the highest rate of unemployment reduction, with 500,000 new jobs created offering better salaries.
