Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis has called on Syriza leader Stefanos Kasselakis to apologize and expel leftist lawmaker Nikos Pappas for his "vulgar and threatening" behavior towards police officers.

Mr. Marinakis criticized Mr. Kasselakis for not taking even a moment to apologize to the thousands of officers and their families impacted by Mr. Pappas' actions.

He stated that in any "normal party," Mr. Pappas' dismissal would be obvious, emphasizing that such behavior has no place in a democracy and must be addressed with decisive action.

Mr. Marinakis highlighted the importance of unity between the state, citizens, armed forces, and security services in combating the effects of the climate crisis, adding that it is unacceptable for a representative of Greece in the European Parliament to insult and threaten police officers, who often work under difficult conditions to ensure public safety.

He urged Mr. Kasselakis to act promptly, asserting that no further discussion is needed in such cases, only the "self-evident" decision to expel Pappas.
