A 57-year-old French citizen, Philippe Stanislas Antoine Wasila, was arrested in Athens on November 2 following an international warrant.

The arrest, carried out by the Hellenic Police, took place at a restaurant in the southern suburbs.

Mr. Wasila, a Luxembourg national of French origin, faces charges for seven financial crimes, including fraudulent bankruptcy, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, and money laundering.

The suspect allegedly misused his position as a company director to conduct transactions and purchases for personal gain, according to police investigations.

He is also accused of investment scams, reportedly posing as a lawyer to deceive victims. Authorities activated the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST) to locate and apprehend him.

Despite being listed among Europol's most wanted fugitives, officials stress that Mr. Wasila is not considered a danger to the public. Investigations continue into the full extent of his alleged crimes.
