The former CEO of Hellenic Train Maurizio Capotorto, is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office for the offence of making a false statement before the Parliament's Special Investigation Committee on the Tempi tragedy.
The Public Prosecutor's Office is calling Capotorto to testify in the context of a preliminary criminal investigation into allegations made a year ago before the Parliament's Special Committee. The investigation was launched after the Capotorto's statement was forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Appeal by decision of all the parties to the inquiry.
The parties had considered that Capotorto's testimony should be examined for the possibility that he had committed the offence of making a false statement.
The Prosecutor issued a summons for testimony as a suspect for Capotorto and ordered an examination without setting a deadline for the solemn affirmation.
