Firefighters are battling a large wildfire in northeastern Attica, Greece, that began in Varnava and has quickly spread, forcing evacuations and urgent alerts.
The fire, which started in Varnava, has grown significantly. Authorities have ordered the evacuation of Penteli and Nea Penteli, as well as the Penteli Children's Hospital and the 414 Military Hospital, as a safety measure.
A new alert has been sent to residents in Melissia, Politeia, and Nea Erythraia, advising them to stay on high alert and follow instructions from the authorities.
Earlier, residents of Daou Penteli and Agios Spyridonas were told to evacuate towards Rafina. Another fire has also broken out in Anthousa. The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection is urging everyone to stay safe and follow official guidance as efforts continue to control the fires.
