Civil Protection sources said that fires in Roussa of Soufli (Thrace) and at a plot of farmland in Gomostos, Western Achaia prefecture (Peloponnese) have been placed under control.

The Karamandanio Children's Hospital in Patras, which had been evacuated along with a retirement home, has suspended operation by order of the region's health chief, Yiannis Karvelis. The decision was taken because of problems created by the fire in the Girokomio area. An inspecting team will visit the children's hospital on Wednesday to assess damage and begin restoration.
