The government is "proceeding with the voting of a series of reform interventions, proving in action its intention to substantially boost incomes for pensioners with low incomes as well as socially vulnerable fellow citizens," National Economy & Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said in Parliament on Thursday.
During the debate in plenary on the railways restructuring bill, he spoke about the three ministerial amendments appended that related among other issues to interventions on bank fees and removing restrictions on issuing of loans to include credit issuing agencies, as well as introducing a higher property tax to bank-owned properties in order to encourage them to offer them to the market.
He also referred to free distribution of drugs to 130,000 pensioners with low retirement checks (who retired as of 2020-2021), and a 100-euro bonus to 155,000 Armed Forces and security forces personnel for dangerous work. These upcoming regulations were announced during the 2025 budget debate by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
