A $25,000 grant to support LGBTQIA+ refugees in Greece has been blocked by the U.S. DOGE service, controlled by Elon Musk.

The grant, "Empowering LGBTQIA+ Refugees in Greece," was intended to provide material, legal, and psychological support to LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees and raise awareness about their challenges.

Mr. Musk, who also owns X (formerly Twitter), commented, "There are far too many cases like this," and shared a post questioning the funding.

The move has drawn mixed reactions. Greek MEP Fragkos Frangoulis of the Hellenic Solution party praised Musk's decision, citing concerns about funds allocated to NGOs in Greece.

Hellenic Solution President Kyriakos Velopoulos also congratulated Musk. However, the blocked grant was not related to housing migrants but specifically supported the LGBTQIA+ community.

The decision has sparked debate about international aid and private influence in humanitarian efforts. Critics say blocking such grants undermines support for vulnerable communities, while supporters claim it promotes funding accountability.
