A protest against the situation in education was held for a second consecutive day on Thursday, at Propylea in central Athens, at 13:00.
Apart from Athens, protests were also scheduled in Thessaloniki and the northwestern Greek city of Ioannina at noon. This followed a protest by teachers, parents and students at Syntagma Square on Wednesday.
Teachers' unions and student associations are demanding greater protection measures against Covid-19 in schools and universities, free and repeated rapid tests for all pupils and students, more frequent public transport services to and from schools and the hiring of more teaching staff.
In addition, they are opposed to the prospect of a university campus police force and demand specific regulations for the exams, as well as the abolition of a decision that cancels the teaching hours carried out via teleconference.
