A 44-year-old DJ with alleged connections to the Azerbaijani president has been jailed pending trial following her testimony in an Athens court.
The woman, accused of aggravated drug trafficking, was arrested during a raid on a luxury villa in Kalyvia where a drug-fueled party was taking place.
Despite denying any involvement in organizing the event or distributing drugs, the court ordered her detention. Another suspect facing felony charges was also remanded in custody.
The move follows the release of five other individuals accused of misdemeanor drug possession.
Earlier, three more suspects facing felony charges were released on bail and restrictive conditions, including mandatory appearances at a police station. The varying levels of restrictions imposed on the defendants reflect the differing severity of the accusations.
The investigation into the villa party continues as authorities work to uncover the full extent of the alleged drug operation.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the high profile of the DJ, who reportedly is a cousin of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by authorities in combating drug trafficking and raises questions about the potential involvement of influential figures in illegal activities.
