Farmers and livestock breeders from 50 rural blockades set up across the country elected on Friday their 15-member delegation, which will meet with PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis next week.
Dimitris Vafeiadis, Vice President of the Agricultural Cooperative of Kilkis, emphasized to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that the meeting of representatives from the country's rural blockades took place in a very positive atmosphere. During the meeting, issues related to the mobilizations were raised.
On Friday, farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers who have set up blockades at various key points in Central Macedonia proceeded with symbolic blockades lasting half an hour, starting at noon. At the Galatista junction on the Thessaloniki-Polygyros national road, farmers closed the road from noon for two hours, but they left one lane open for the passage of vehicles and trucks.
The rural blockades conducted symbolic half-hour closures at the intersections of Derveni, along the Thessaloniki-Kavala national road, and Strymonikos, on the Thessaloniki-Serres Egnatia highway. Similar actions took place at various points in the prefectures of Imathia, Pella, and Pieria, including the Niseliou junction on the Thessaloniki-Veroia Egnatia highway, Giannitsa, and Chalkidona.
At the Derveni blockade, livestock breeders distributed 200 bottles of 500 ml each to passing vehicles and trucks.
