David Crouch, the father of Caroline Crouch, who was tragically murdered by her husband Babis Anagnostopoulos in 2021, has spoken out against the convicted killer, accusing him of causing further pain and financial hardship.
Speaking from his care home in Greece, Mr. Crouch condemned Anagnostopoulos's repeated appeals, which he says have drained his parents' finances and prolonged the family's suffering.
"His futile appeals have done nothing but bankrupt his parents," Mr. Crouch stated.
"In his first trial, he confessed to murdering my daughter, and the jury unanimously confirmed his guilt. Yet, he filed two more appeals, dragging the process out and creating even more expenses they had to cover."
The murder of 20-year-old Caroline Crouch in Glyka Nera shocked Greece and the world. Anagnostopoulos initially staged the crime as a robbery before confessing to killing his wife. He is currently serving a life sentence.
Crouch also spoke about his granddaughter Lydia, who is now being raised by relatives in the Philippines. "She is my little treasure," he said, adding that she is growing up to look more and more like her mother.
The ongoing appeals have not only caused financial strain for Anagnostopoulos's parents but have also reportedly led to estrangement from their younger son.
The case continues to generate debate about justice and domestic violence in Greece, highlighting the devastating and long-lasting impact of such crimes on families and communities.
