A bomb exploded outside the Hellenic Train offices on Syngrou Avenue at 21:35 on Friday.
According to information from police, an unknown person called 'Efimerida ton Syntakton' newspaper and the "Zougla" web page to say a bomb had been placed outside the offices and would explode in 35 minutes. He warned both media outlets that "it is not a joke".
Police cordoned off the area and stopped traffic on Syngrou Avenue from Athanassiou Diakou to Kallirois Streets. A bomb squad was at the site and saw a scooter parked outside the company, locked on to a pillar, without circulation plates and with a travel bag on it. The bomb specialists could not arrange a controlled explosion as the bomb went off at the time mentioned in the call.
According to police there were no injuries, and damage was not available as of this writing until the bomb and criminal squads complete their work. Six firefighters with two vehicles were also at the site.
