Get ready to raise a glass! Athens is joining the global celebration of Beaujolais Nouveau this Thursday, November 21st.

Wine lovers across the city will be toasting the arrival of this year's vintage, a tradition that takes place every third Thursday of November.

Beaujolais Nouveau, a light and fruity red wine from the Beaujolais region of France, is known for its quick turnaround, bottled just weeks after harvest. This "wine of the people" has a long history, originating as a post-harvest celebration for vineyard workers.

To mark the occasion, several Athenian wine bars and restaurants are hosting special events. Jerár, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, will pair Beaujolais Nouveau and cru wines with gourmet dishes.

Felicità, a trendy wine bar, will offer the first sips of Georges Duboeuf's Beaujolais Nouveau alongside indie French music. Gamay, named after the grape used to make the wine, will combine Beaujolais Nouveau with Middle Eastern-inspired bites.

Other venues like Epta Martyres and Pharaoh will also offer unique pairings and festive atmospheres.

This annual tradition showcases Athens's vibrant wine and culinary scene while embracing French culture. So, join the celebration and raise a glass to Beaujolais Nouveau! Santé!
