Greece's socialist Pasok party has announced its open support for Athens Pride, saying it will participate in the event’s activities Saturday.
In a statement, the party said it was endorsing the event in line with Pasok’s “ vigorous promotion of any initiative that bolsters equality and eradicates discrimination.”
The party emphasised that “in modern social democracy, deeply democratic values that resonate with freedom and human rights are one of the main axes of politics.”
Other political parties in Greece, including SYRIZA, have also been reported to support Athens Pride, reflecting a growing acceptance of LGBT+ rights within the Greek political spectrum.
