Antiauthoritarian groups have re-entered the historic "Libertatia" building in Thessaloniki, a structure that has been a focal point of political activism and controversy for years.
The building, which was destroyed by fire in 2018, was reoccupied late Wednesday night by dozens of individuals who gathered for a music concert.
Authorities launched an operation early Thursday morning to evacuate the remaining occupants, leading to the closure of a major street in the city.
The "Libertatia" building, a declared historical monument, has been a symbol of antiauthoritarian movements in Greece. Since its destruction, activists have made repeated attempts to reclaim and rebuild the site, often facing resistance from authorities.
Police have conducted numerous raids and arrests to prevent individuals from occupying the building.
The latest reoccupation marks a significant escalation in the ongoing standoff between antiauthoritarian groups and the Greek government over the future of the "Libertatia" building.
