In a strategic pivot, construction leader AKTOR Group is expanding into renewable energy and concessions to strengthen resilience in an evolving market, according to CEO Alexandros Exarchou.
Speaking at the CEO Initiative Forum on November 7 at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, Mr. Exarchou emphasized that now is an ideal time for growth in Greece’s construction sector.
Still. he highlighted the importance of diversification to position the company well for any future downturns.
“This is an opportune period for construction in Greece. For the next five to six years, we anticipate a high backlog of projects. However, we must prepare now for the inevitable recession that will eventually follow,” said Mr. Exarchou.
To this end, AKTOR has intensified its focus on emerging areas like renewable energy and concessions, aiming to cement its role in a dynamic market.
Renewable energy has become a cornerstone of AKTOR’s strategy, offering key opportunities for sustainable development. Concessions provide long-term stability and recurring revenue streams, creating a balanced approach that, according to Mr. Exarchou, is crucial for a robust business model.
The company’s strategy reflects a new phase in AKTOR’s evolution, focusing on creating a diverse portfolio that meets both current and future industry demands.
In addition, Mr. Exarchou discussed AKTOR’s acquisition strategy, which targets companies that align with its existing portfolio, further broadening its growth base and ensuring economic resilience.
With this approach, the company aims to solidify its market presence and develop a diversified, resilient business model designed to thrive in both favorable and challenging times.
