Protesters are expected this week to continue demonstrations against the government’s strategy in negotiations that threatens to leave Greece bankrupt and out of the Eurozone.
Protests are planned Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. outside the Greek parliament. The rally, held under the motto "We're staying in Europe", is organized by a Facebook group. The group's Facebook page expects thousands to attend the protest.
In June 18, over 5,000 pro-EU protesters gathered outside the seat of Greek parliament in a peaceful demonstration backing the country’s membership in the currency zone and the European Union.
Demonstrators were chanting "Europe! Europe!" calling on the government to end the debt deadlock that could push Greece into bankruptcy. Opposition politicians from centre-right and centre-left parties, including legislators also attended.
