Alexis Tsipras just gave a brief speech on Greek television.
He told the nation that he is heading to Brussels for talks with Jean-Claude Juncker, to encourage Europe’s leaders to “see reason”.
Tsipras added that he has not yet received any information from creditors.
Syriza's leader will have a meeting at 8pm in Brussels with European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker. The Greek PM will be accompanied by the Oxford-educated economist Euclid Tsakalotos, who heads Greece’s negotiating team, his close ally, minister of state Nikos Pappas and the Greek government spokesman Gabriel Sekallaridis while Finance Minister Varoufakis will remain in Athens.
Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem will take part in talks as well as representatives of the institutions negotiating with Greece on behalf of the international creditors (namely the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund)
