Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said today at a meeting in the Ministry of Education that his government sent creditors a “comprehensive” and “realistic” reforms proposal on Monday night and called on European leaders to accept the plan so an agreement that will end “divisions in Europe” can be sealed.
Tsipras's comments came after German Chancellor Angela Merkel hosted France's François Hollande, Mario Draghi of the European Central Bank, European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde for late-night talks in Berlin on Greece.
Tsipras said the proposal was submitted to EU and IMF lenders on Monday night, in time for their a late-night meeting in Berlin.
“We are not waiting for them to submit a proposal, Greece is submitting a plan - it is now clear that the decision on whether they want to adjust to realism ... the decision rests with the political leadership of Europe” Tsipras told reporters.
According to Reuters the proposal did not contain major new concessions on issues holding up a deal, such as pension and labor issues.
